چکیده

In this study, we try to develop a calibration method of control parameters included in a Monte Carlo simulation model which generates time series data for software reliability assessment. The control parameters are calibrated so as to minimize the mean sum of squared errors between the actual observed data and the generated ones. As a result, the proposed method enables us to use the simulation model for assessing the software reliability based on the observed data. We show several numerical examples of the calibration and software reliability assessment by the simulation models.

Accuracy of Discrete Element Method Simulations: Rolling and Sliding Frictions Effects-Case study: Iron Ore Pellets

The discrete element method (DEM) has been used as a popular simulation method in order to verify the designs by visualizing how materials flow through complex equipment geometries.  Although DEM simulation is a powerful design tool, finding a DEM model that includes all real material properties is not computationally feasible.  In order to obtain more realistic results, particle energy loss du...

Simulation and Genetic Algorithms for Optimizing Comminution Circuit at Gol-e-Gohar Iron Plant (RESEARCH NOTE)

simulation optimization is a scientific tool that is widely used to design and optimize comminution circuits in mineral processing plants. In this research, first of all, in order to  determine the suitable d80 for cicuit hydrocyclone underflow, the requiremed parameters of simulator (residence time distribution, breakage function, selection function and Plitt’s model calibration) were determin...

Monte Carlo Simulation to Compare Markovian and Neural Network Models for Reliability Assessment in Multiple AGV Manufacturing System

We compare two approaches for a Markovian model in flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs) using Monte Carlo simulation. The model which is a development of Fazlollahtabar and Saidi-Mehrabad (2013), considers two features of automated flexible manufacturing systems equipped with automated guided vehicle (AGV) namely, the reliability of machines and the reliability of AGVs in a multiple AGV jobsho...

Estimating Reliability in Mobile ad-hoc Networks Based on Monte Carlo Simulation (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Each system has its own definition of reliability. Reliability in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET) could be interpreted as, the probability of reaching a message from a source node to destination, successfully. The variability and volatility of the MANET configuration makes typical reliability methods (e.g. reliability block diagram) inappropriate. It is because, no single structure or configurat...

Automatic Calibration of HEC-HMS Model Using Multi-Objective Fuzzy Optimal Models

Estimation of parameters of a hydrologic model is undertaken using a procedure called “calibration” in order to obtain predictions as close as possible to observed values. This study aimed to use the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for automatic calibration of the HEC-HMS hydrologic model, which includes a library of different event-based models for simulating the rainfall-runoff pr...
